Spruce

In search of the best brunch places in Singapore, my next stop is Spruce! And I had the lovely company of Xinli and Vinleon from theMoose who joined me for brunch. :)

As much as I wished that I can enjoy brunch in the serene environment, the noisy and chattering patrons seemed to make it almost impossible. But I still love the outdoor seating where I can admire the lush greeneries.

My eyes beamed when I saw “The Benedict Collection”. Spruce Egg Benny on Fresh Corn Waffle ($14) it is, a nice change from the usual egg Benedict. I thought the whole combination was fantastic especially the corn waffle with bits of sweet corn embedded in it. Besides, the hollandaise sauce and leg bacon complement the waffle really well. But there was one problem, my eggs were overdone :(

Vinleon had the Spruce Big Brekkie – Scrambled Eggs with Bacon, German Sausage, Roasted Tomato, Roasted Potato, Mushrooms and Foccacia Toast ($18). I tried a little and all of us agreed that it was pretty ordinary. This is definitely good for those who like to try a variety of breakfast items.

Apart from the savouries, Xinli had a sweet breakfast - Banana Hotcakes with Honeycomb Butter and Blueberry Syrup ($13).

The portion was generous with 3 large pancakes which Xinli find it hard to finish it. I thought it was weird for them to serve the pancakes in a bowl instead of a plate. The pancakes were drenched in butter and syrup which result in unfluffy pancakes. It did looked very messy. However, Xinli seemed to be enjoying his pancakes though. ;))

Spruce may not be my top choice for brunch especially when I’m unable to enjoy my meal in a quiet, peaceful manner. But my fantastic company save the day. :) And judging from its popularity, I guess Spruce has its charm too. Reservation is a must especially on a weekend if you do not wish to queue for a long time to get a table.

nice pics Bella V! :) Too bad it was pretty noisy for a relaxing brunch and your eggs were overdone. Definitely, I would try to stop by to try it out :) Maybe, if you have plans for a chit chatting breakfast, and need some company, shoot me an email :)

hmmmm i happened to be at ascott raffles this coming weekend because of my friend's birthday, I would try out Julien Bompard's breakfast (they offer eggs, "oriental" as well as a Chef's Table buffet. The price range seemed reasonable with $15++ for a chef table buffet. $9++ for an Asian breakfast.
